What can you tell us about the field of players at the Chess Grand Prix?

What can I say about colleagues? I did not choose the participants in the Grand Prix, FIDE chose them. I hardly entered the competition.

Who do you consider to be the favorite?

I think everyone will play for the victory. For me, for example, the result is very important and I will play to the very end.

What can you tell us about the game with Mamedyarov?

I am glad that my game with Mamedyarov ended in a draw. Mamedyarov constantly attacked and it was difficult to hold on.

And how do you feel about Sofia rules?

I am in favor. But nothing of course is all good, after all players end up tired. I think the rules need further improvement.

Who, in your opinion, is the main candidate for the chess title?

There are many players, including some young ones. This is a law in chess - the champion is changing. The main question is when will it happen. It is impossible to hold the crown for a long time. It was possible only for Kasparov.

And due to what?

In chess the team matters. And Kasparov had a good one. Besides, he had much knowledge and experience.

What is necessary for the best grand masters of Azerbaijan - Mamedyarov and Radjabov - to play even better?

Still the same - they need a good team. Look what effect it has on Kramnik. A chess player cannot do anything alone.
